Meet Our October Family of the Month: The Marks

Don has been a member of CBS since the mid-90s and Gabi since the early 2000s (more recently, she served two terms on the CBS Board as Governance Chair). Don and Gabi met at CBS at a YABS 3rd Friday and fell in love while volunteering with YABS. Noa and Saul both attended CBS preschool and celebrated their b'nei mitzvah at CBS (as far as they know, Saul's was the only virtual bar mitzvah ever at CBS due to the pandemic and an epic rainstorm). Noa is a junior at Cal Berkeley majoring in Psychology and Saul is a high school senior with a passion for football kicking, which he plans to continue in college. Don is a Sales Executive at Amazon Web Services and Gabi is an attorney who conducts impartial investigations in workplaces and schools.

Gabi loves singing the familiar melodies she learned growing up in Cape Town, South Africa, because they are centering and a reminder that we are links in a long chain of ancestors. Don appreciates CBS' egalitarian and accessible adherence to tradition, and was especially excited to help sponsor CBS' transliterated siddurim.

The Marks loves Shabbat as their weekly opportunity to be together as a family and share about the week, and they hope that CBS and this community will remain central as their children begin their adult lives and Don and Gabi explore the next phase of free-birding!
