CHESED V’TZEDEK
Please join us in expressing our Jewish values of chesed (loving kindness) and tzedek (justice) through ACTION, while building community, learning, and having fun.
Our Chesed v’Tzedek Committee meets on the third Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. to plan food drives, educational opportunities, and community events. We would love to have you be a part of our communal effort to give back and make positive change.

Donate Back-to-School Supplies
Every day, people fleeing conflict or persecution arrive in the Bay Area. Many come with next to nothing, but their hope and determination.
Create a back-to-school kit for children who have sought safe refuge in the Bay Area by bringing supplies to donate to Jewish Family and Children’s Services at the Welcome Back to Shul Community Shabbat.
Feel free to bring one or more supplies or make a full backpack with one of each item on the list! Gift cards to Target are also welcome in addition to or instead of supplies.

Get Out the Vote Postcard Writing
There is an important election coming up in November in the state of Virginia. Please join us to write “Get Out the Vote” postcards at Congregation Beth Sholom on Tuesday, September 9th at 6:30 p.m. If you prefer to write Get Out the Vote postcards in the comfort of your own home or you are unable to join us on September 9th, we will assemble a “packet” for you, containing:
a supply of the number of cards you wish to write (20 count minimum please)
a sheet with instructions, text to write on the cards and a sample of a completed card
a list of USPS mail addresses for recipients
labels with appropriate copy for the address locations
If requested, postcard stamps can also be provided. These packets will be prepared off-site for pick up at the Beth Sholom office. Postcards and mailing lists will be available soon; and completed, stamped cards can be dropped in the mail starting September 15th for the November 4th election. Contact the Chesed V’Tzedek Committee at chesed@bethsholomsf.org to request a packet of cards and/or to RSVP for the September 9th Postcard writing event.
