Efi Aber’s Bar Mitzvah

Efi Aber, a seventh grader at The Brandeis School of San Francisco, will be called to the Torah as a Bar Mitzvah on November 8th, for Parshat Vayeira.

Efi began his very first school experience right here at Beth Sholom, with Dale as his teacher when he had just turned two. He is the proud big brother of Eli (5th grade) and Avi (who attends Beth Sholom Preschool). Three of his cousins—Izzy, Lucy, and Asha—have also celebrated their Bat Mitzvahs at Beth Sholom in recent years, making this community truly a second home for him.

Efi enjoys reading, playing basketball, spending time with friends, discovering places for fun foods, and traveling near and far (especially with cousins). He also loves learning about the latest innovations in flying cars. Efi deeply enjoyed preparing for his Bar Mitzvah and feels a little sad that the experience is coming to a close—though he’s looking forward to joining Jews for Hot Cocoa next.

Efi’s parsha, Vayeira, is filled with stories of challenge and transformation. His drash focuses on the Binding of Isaac and explores the questions surrounding why Abraham acted as he did.

Efi would like to thank Rabbi Russell for his guidance and wisdom throughout this journey, Marilyn Heiss for their weekly learning sessions, and all the Beth Sholom teachers for making his education and this community such a meaningful part of his life.
