Elon Rotberg’s Bar Mitzvah
Hello! My name is Elon Rotberg. I’m in the 8th grade at Brandeis SF. In my free time I like to read, watch anime, play volleyball and spend time with family and friends.
I have been a member of Beth Sholom for over a year and have been grateful for this warm and engaging community.
My parsha is Tetzaveh in Shemot/Exodus, which focuses on the consecration of Aaron and his sons as Priests who serve G-d and the Tabernacle. It details the specific priestly garments, such as the breastplate, breeches, and ephod, as well as how they are to be created and the ordination process of turning Aaron and his sons into Priests. It has an emphasis on Holiness, specifically of the Priests and their garments. Through the explanation of how the garments are to be made and their purpose I realized the symbolic representation of each garment and which sin it atones for.
I have enjoyed studying for my Bar Mitzvah and have learned a lot about the Torah. I want to thank Randall Weiss for being such a great tutor and Rabbi Russell for helping me write my Drash.
I’m grateful for my family’s encouragement and support as I prepared for this special day. Thank you everyone who is planning to attend my Bar Mitzvah.
