Meet Our December Family of the Month: the Bortnicks

Meet our December Family of the Month: Rafi (36), Amy (35), and Zev (2.75) Bortnick

We’re new members, though we’ve been to many Beth Sholom events over the years. Rafi’s sister, Becky Afergan, and her family have long been part of the community, and we’ve loved joining them for Tot Shabbat, community dinners, and the High Holidays. 

We're excited to officially be part of the Beth Sholom community now - everyone has been so welcoming and engaged.

Shabbat is a special time for us, a chance to slow down together on Friday nights. We’re raising Zev bilingual in English and Hebrew, so we’re happy he gets to practice with any other Hebrew-speaking community members!

Looking ahead, we’re eager to continue celebrating holidays, to engage in Jewish learning, and to contribute to the community. Most of all, we hope that Beth Sholom feels like home — for all of us, and especially for Zev.
