Henry Baum’s Bar Mitzvah
My name is Henry Baum. I attend the Sterne School here in San Francisco. I love to read mystery books, look at maps and play sports. My favorite Jewish Holiday is Passover because I love all the yummy food at the Seder - especially the Matza Ball Soup! In school, I am on the basketball team and am a member of the chess club. My favorite subject is History because I like learning about the world's empires. I have gone to Camp Young Judaea Midwest for the past 3 summers and will be going again this Summer. I regularly attend Beth Shalom with my Uncle Ben, Aunt Ilana and Cousin Aspen.
My Parsha is Naso. Naso is the longest parsha of the year and covers many subjects. I will be discussing the laws of a Nazir in my davar torah. I selected this topic because I was interested in learning more about this ancient "Hebrew Monk's" lifestyle, laws, religious practice and the concepts of second chances. It is also what connects this Parsha to its haftorah, which discusses the birth of Samson, the best-known Nazir.
I would like to thank Rabbi Russell and my tutor Nor Bar for helping me prepare for my Bar Mitzva. I would also like to thank Adam, Jonathan and the rest of the Bnei Mitzvah staff, madrechim and my classmates for their support over the past few years. Additionally, I'd like to thank my teaches and friends at Sterne School for supporting me as well. Lastly, I would like to thank my family for helping me plan and host my Bar Mitzva. My family and I look forward to seeing you at my Bar Mitzva on June 7, 2025!
