We are excited to introduce CBS Authors Series. Its purpose is to educate, enlighten, and enrich our community by exposing participants to the works of selected writers, some of whom may be congregants, authors of Jewish-themed works, or others who have created works of fiction or nonfiction.
Irving Lubliner — Only Hope: A Survivor’s Stories of the Holocaust by Felicia Bornstein Lubliner
Irving Lubliner will share excerpts from Only Hope: A Survivor’s Stories of the Holocaust, by his mother Felicia Bornstein Lubliner, shedding light on her experiences and indomitable spirit, as well as his experience as a child of Holocaust survivors and his process in bringing the book to fruition.
Jennifer Lang — Places We Left Behind: a memoir-in-miniature
In Places We Left Behind, Jennifer Lang puts her marriage under a microscope, examining commitment and compromise, faith and family while moving between prose and poetry, playing with language and form, daring the reader to read between the lines. This talk will be moderated by our Acting Executive Director and trained psychologist, Dr. Alan Schnur.
Joan Gelfand — Outside Voices: A Memoir of the Berkeley Revolution
OUTSIDE VOICES tells the coming-of-age story of a damaged teenager putting the pieces back together as she explores independence and self-definition while grappling with sexuality, Jewish identity, and the lingering trauma of her father’s death.

Free for members, $18 for guests. Childcare will be offered for on Sunday events at $18 for children ages 2 and up.
