Passover Preparation

Prepare for Passover with CBS

Join the CBS community this Sunday (April 14) to prepare for Passover with annual tidying, a special dialogue discussing Passover traditions, community-wide pre-Passover hametz noshing, and then revive your soul with a concert performance from The Fraternal Order of the Society of Blues before evening minyan.

DATE: Sunday, April 14
TIME: 1-6 p.m.
PLACE: Congregation Beth Sholom

Schedule of events for Sunday, April 14

  • Tidying CBS, with three team projects (1-4 p.m.)
    1) Renewing the Pews - The Sanctuary seats and floors are in need of a deeper clean. Lend a hand, and a vacuum (if you can), to help renew this holy space.

    2) Landscaping - We'll work on several areas in and around CBS, including the Zweifach Meditation Garden and Eva Gunther Plaza. Please bring a pair (or two) of work gloves if you have them!

    3) Storage Space Management and Cleaning - This team will help to inventory items in various storage spaces, cleaning public spaces, and assisting with accepting donations for Community Thrift.

  • Final meal of Hametz and Passover Traditions Dialogue (4-5 p.m.)
Rabbi Ain and Jeremiah Lockwood will discuss their most meaningful Passover traditions through rabbinic and musical lenses, followed by questions and discussion with attendees. Bring your questions and engage us all in a holiday filled with purpose, inquiry, and spirit!

We will enjoy our final meal of hametz before and during this dialogue. All CBS community members are encouraged to bring their hametz this day to feast with friends, or "sell" via Shtar Hametz. CBS will assist with matters of Shtar Hametz.

  • Concert by The Fraternal Order of the Society of Blues (5-6 p.m.)
Jeremiah Lockwood (guitar and voice), Ernesto “Lover Cat” Gomez (harmonica and voice),and Ricky “Dirty Red” Gordon (washboard and voice) comprise this band: a tribute to the Life and Music of Carolina Slim (aka Elijah Staley).
