CBS Book Group - Yosl Talks to God

BookGroup_19May2019.jpg

The next meeting of the CBS Book Group will discuss "Yosl Rakover Talks to God" by Zvi Kolitz.

Zvi Kolitz was a Lithuanian Jew who left Europe in 1940 for Jerusalem and become an ardent Zionist freedom fighter. Shortly after the end of WWII, while visiting Argentina, he wrote a powerful short story, "Yosl Rakover Talks to God", the last confession of a fictional Jewish man who died in the Warsaw Ghetto.

The First Vintage version that the group will discuss includes the story of Yosl Rakover, a man who refuses to abandon his faith in God, despite the mania and chaos that is about to crush him, followed by commentaries showing how fictions can be knowingly and unknowingly turned into powerful truths.

This is a short book but a powerful book. The 112 pages include the short story and the essays.
