Sunday afternoon, the Achshav Yisrael committee of CBS, in partnership with the Jewish Film Institute, presented its second program, "From Pioneers to City Slackers: The Evolving Image of Israelis On the Silver Screen," in Koret Hall.
Dr. Eran Kaplan, an expert on Israeli film and the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Professor of Israel Studies in the Department of Jewish Studies at San Francisco State University, provided a full house with an engaging, provocative, and occasionally humorous survey of the portrayal of the Zionist ideal (and complicated reality) in Israeli cinema from 1936 to the present day.
Following the screening and lecture, guests gathered in small groups for intimate discussion of the ideas presented by Dr. Kaplan. CBS heartily thanks the Achshav Yisrael committee for its work on this program!
