Q: How long are your services?
A: Friday night Kabbalat Shabbat is from 6:30–7:30 p.m. Saturday morning Shabbat service is from 9 a.m.–12 noon, following by a Kiddush. A complete list of our daily minyan times is available by clicking here. Everyone is welcome to all our services.
Q: Do I have to be a member to attend services? Do I have to be Jewish to attend services?
A: Anyone is welcome to attend services at Congregation Beth Sholom. You do not have to be a member, nor do you have to be Jewish.
Q: How do I schedule an auf ruf?
A: An auf ruf (being called up to the Torah prior to your wedding) is performed on Saturday morning Shabbat services. Please call Julia Yasser to schedule an appointment with Rabbi Micah Hyman at 415.221.8736, ext. 101.
Q: Do you have any mohel you recommend for a bris?
A: There are a few mohel we recommend. Those with 510 numbers also service San Francisco.

Q: How do I do a baby naming for a baby girl?
A: A baby naming for a girl is usually performed during Saturday morning Shabbat services, and involves the family being called to the Torah. The rabbi gives the blessing, and announces her to the congregation. Please contact Julia Yasser to schedule an appointment with Rabbi Micah Hyman at 415.221.8736, ext. 101.
Q: Can I get married at Beth Sholom?
A: Yes. Please contact event coordinator Beth Jones at 415.221.8736, ext. 105 for a building tour, rental prices, and availability. She is happy to answer all your questions.
Q. Can Rabbi Hyman perform our marriage ceremony?
A: Rabbi Hyman has limited availability to perform weddings, due to his schedule, and generally only performs wedding for members of Beth Sholom. Please contact his assistant Julia Yasser to check your date(s) against his calendar, and to schedule an appointment with him at 415.221.8736, ext. 101.
Q: How/when do I say Kaddish for my loved one?
A: You can recite Kaddish (mourners prayer) at Shabbat services, or the morning or evening minyan services. More information is available here .

Q: How do I make a donation?
A: You may send your donation to Congregation Beth Sholom, 301 14th Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94118. Please state on the donation what it is for. You may also donate directly on the website here.
Q: How do I make a donation in memory of someone? Do you send a note to the family when I make a donation in memory of their loved one?
A: You may send your donation to Congregation Beth Sholom, 301 14th Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94118. Please state on the donation what it is for. You may also donate directly on the website here. We will send a card to the bereaved family to let them know of your donation.
Q: Do you take food donations?
A: We accept food donations when we are doing food drives (usually during Pesach, the High Holidays, and Hanukkah). Please bring canned food or non-perishable foods. Please be sure they are within the expiration date.
Q: Do you have a gift shop?
A: No, unfortunately we no longer have one. We recommend Dayenu located in the JCCSF at 3200 California Street, San Francisco, CA to purchase gifts in the Jewish tradition. A link to their website is here.

Q: Do you offer tours of your building?
A: Yes. One of our staff may offer a tour during regular office hours. Contact the office at 415.221.8736 to arrange a scheduled tour for a large group.
