Our members (we call 'em "Kadimaniks") are affiliated with
local Conservative synagogues like Beth Sholom. However, we
welcome all Jewish sixth through eighth graders who would like to join.
We meet at least once a month, generally from October through June. Our activities range from social action projects (like feeding the hungry) to Jewish cultural and religious programs (like a Tu B'Shvat seder) to the purely social (like a trip to Raging Waters). SF Kadima's main goals are to encourage lasting Jewish friendships among our Kadimaniks, to help the community at large through the mitzvot of tzedakah (righteous giving) and gemilut chasidim (good deeds), and of course, to have a great time while doing it! SF Kadima is part of the New Frontier region, which consists of more than a dozen chapters from Fresno to San Jose to the Sierras, and everywhere in between. In addition to planning inter-chapter events, the chapters all come together for regional events (like our yearly Kadima Kinnus). These regional events give our Kadimaniks the opportunity to meet and form friendships with a web of Jewish teens and preteens across the state. Kadima is an international organization, with chapters in Canada and Mexico. Kadima chapters don't generally meet on an international basis, but USY (Kadima's high-school counterpart) does. SF Kadima's success is due in large part to our helpful and involved group of Kadima parents. They carpool, chaperone, provide snacks and support both financial and emotional...Yay, Moms and Dads!
